A big push in construction in recent years has been toward sustainability. With that in mind, my senior design group has chosen to design a "green school", with a key focus on low environmental impact. In our design we are striving to get a platinum LEED Certification for our design. http://www.usgbc.org/DisplayPage.aspx?CMSPageID=222 This is the highest standard there is and takes into account everything from materials, construction, location and many other aspects. Our designs is going to include a green roof, geothermal heating, and on site water retention. Even with five people to work on this it is still a large project with plenty of tasks to go around.
